Inspirational Case Study - Sheaf Training

Struggling for inspiration? Take a look at the work of Sheaf Training in 2022/23!

The Super Six Explorers team at Sheaf Training decided through a number of group discussions, and consultation with their peers, to create a wellbeing garden for use by students and staff. This ambitious plan gave them just a five weeks to complete the new garden and hold an open event to raise awareness of mental health and to promote use of the wellbeing space.

In situations where the team found it hard to make a decision they had a vote to ensure everyone was involved. They created an action plan and assigned roles to team members based on their strengths.

The budget for the project was small so the team needed to be creative with their ideas. They received support with developing their plans from their team mentor Amber Hendy from Sisk, who also donated a water feature for the garden. The team added new plants, butterfly decorations, home-made bird feeders and a chalk board.

The team organised an Open Event to show off and promote use of the garden to students, staff and the wider community. They invited people to this by creating posters for display around Sheaf Training and sending invitations by email.

“When things changed in our plan it was difficult as it was at time disappointing and hard to think of a way forward. We stayed positive by remembering what we had achieved and staying focused on our end goal.”
