Inspirational Case Study - Forge Valley School
Team LGBee's from Forge Valley School distributed badges to raise awareness around the use of pronouns in school, aimed at targeting the LGBTQ+ community to create social impact.
Upon commencing the project, the initial school environment included some prejudice and bullying. The group wished there was more understanding and that people were kinder to each other, creating motivation for their campaign.
The team of three each spent ten hours on the project to ensure all tasks were completed on time. 700 badges were made and handed out in school, exceeding the team's original aim of making 600. An additional 150 orders were taken on the back of the initial success which demonstrates a need and interest.
The project created an evident impact within the school community as people now feel able to share their pronouns with staff and other students. This was achieved through presentations in assemblies to raise awareness around LGBTQ+ issues and promotion of the badges around school.

“We have gained skills for business and badge making, while doing something for the LGBTQ+ community. We also established friendships with each other and gained confidence. We are proud because we have made a difference within our school of people using the right pronouns for people to feel more comfortable in school.”
