BiG Community Challenge is back for 2025!

Calling all Junior Leadership Team Leads, School Council Leads, PSHE Leads, Careers Leaders, Teachers, Youth Workers, Educators!

The See It Be It in Sheffield Team are pleased to announce the return of the BiG Community Challenge 2025!

  • The BiG Community Challenge aims to ignite social and entrepreneurial spirit through city wide social action activity.
  • Teams of young people come up with a BiG idea and take action around issues which are important to them and their communities.
  • Teams are brought together at the end to celebrate their contributions and successes.
  • This is skills development through youth led social action and innovation!
  • The Skills Builder Framework is embedded throughout for measurable progress and impact measurement.
  • It is free for teams to enter, and it is open to all young people in Sheffield.

The BiG Community Challenge is suitable for delivery in any education or youth setting!  Current and ongoing social action projects can be used to participate in the BiG Community Challenge.

Our Team will provide the delivery resources you need to launch and run the BiG Community Challenge in your setting including:

  • Workbook to lead young people through the process (find attached)
  • PowerPoint slides for delivery
  • Teacher guide
  • Matching your teams with business/charity volunteers to mentor them during the challenge.

All teams that submit a Reflective Journal at the end of the programme will be invited to a celebration event in July and receive a certificate and BiG Community Challenge medal.

Staff information sessions

An online information session for staff interested in delivering the programme will be held on the following dates.  This will be one session repeated so please let us know if you would like to attend, and I will share the relevant Teams link with you.

  • Wednesday 12th February, 15:30 – 16:15
  • Tuesday 25th February, 15:30 – 16:15
  • Wednesday 12th March, 15:30 – 16:15

The deadline for team registration is Wednesday 23rd April, and Reflective Journal deadline is Wednesday 18th June.
